To finish our tour of the city visited the Botanical gardens of Palermo. First founded in 1789 by the University of Palermo and currently hosts around 12,000 species of plant life.
There were many exotic species of plants and trees in the gardens. One species of cactus that had been brought back from Mexico adapted rapidly to the Sicilian climate and now grows all across the island. It is also grown domestically as Sicilians eat the fruit it produces.
There was also wildlife living in the park as Andrei discovered.
Sicily is also famous for it's Oranges and there were many citrus trees throughout the park.
The Aquarium, a large round pool divided into 24 sections, is located at the end of the central avenue.

And so ended our tour of Palermo. Next we would be visiting our work placements, Entermed, Olomedia and Sogest three IT companies in Palermo where we would be working for the next four weeks.
